Fall 2018 NCCGA Nationals

Some of you may remember from 2017, I traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to film the Fall 2017 National Championship for the National Collegiate Club Golf Association. Well in November I met up with the NCCGA, Nextgengolf and more than 340 college club golfers from around the country to film the Fall 2018 National Championship!

This time I headed to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and the beautiful Barefoot Resort to document another great weekend of golf. I enjoyed my time there of course! Congrats to the Golf Academy of America Myrtle Beach for keeping the trophy in South Carolina. Big congrats to Ian Martin of Michigan who shot 67-74 (-3) to take home individual honors!

Burn Boot Camp - Tega Cay

Hello and Happy New Year from Caddy & Company!

We hope everyone had a safe, happy and memorable Christmas and New Years celebration! To kick off the new year, we wanted to share with you our latest project featuring Burn Boot Camp’s Tega Cay location. If you’re from the Huntersville and Charlotte area, chances are you’ve heard of Burn Boot Camp before. Founded and opened first in Huntersville, BBC has seen an incredible growth since it’s first location opened in 2012 and the franchising began in 2015.

That being said, I’m sure many of you have started your 2019 with a new set of resolutions, right?! Well if on that list is losing weight, getting stronger, faster or leaner, I’d highly recommend checking out Burn Boot Camp during their Raise the Bar promo. I had never been into a Burn Boot Camp before, but after spending a day there, I can tell you a few things:

  1. You’re going to get a great full body workout in less than one hour if you go.

  2. You’re going to meet wonderful new people and most likely make great friends if you go with regularity.

  3. Leave your worries and feelings of intimidation at the door because the staff, trainers and participants are all incredibly welcoming.

  4. It doesn’t matter what your level of fitness is because all walks of life are killing it in these classes! Just show up and give it a chance!

Check out our video below and if the Tega Cay location is too far away, be sure to find a closer location to you and give it a shot!

Chambers Wedding

At the end of September, Caroline and I ventured up to Asheville, NC to film Stephanie and Andrew’s wedding. As some of you may recall, I’m from the Asheville area, so any excuse to get back home to see the beautiful mountains, I’m taking it!

Stephanie and Andrew met each other while in school at UNC (Go Heels!). Andrew joined a club that Stephanie held a leadership role in and thought it would be easy. She likes to refer to herself as his boss in that club. When you get to know them more, it’s clear to see they are truly dedicated to each other and care for one another on a very deep level. While still dating, Andrew spent time studying abroad. When he returned, Stephanie then took a trip to Germany. After graduation, Stephanie took a job in Austin, TX and Andrew quickly decided he too was Austin bound! A surprise proposal in Barcelona later and here we are on their wedding day!

They described their wedding as intimate, romantic, fun and simple. I can confirm they nailed it on all of those! From custom socks with their dog’s face on them, to the donut wall, to Andrew belting The Darkness’ “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” the day truly was intimate, romantic, fun and simple!

Below is our highlight of their special day! Stephanie and Andrew, thank you so much for allowing Caroline and I to be part of your special day. It was an honor to film your wedding and we wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Out & About

Hey guys!  Hope all is going well during the summer months.  Just wanted to post a quick update about some projects we've been working on.  As some of you may know, I'm also a licensed real estate agent.  I work with Robin and Kevin Senter of Senter & Company in the Charlotte and Lake Norman area.  Robin and Kevin are a dynamic husband and wife duo doing big things in the real estate market!

In the fall of 2014, Caroline and I met Robin while searching for out first home.  She represented us in the purchase and building of a new construction home.  Turns out Robin also banked where I was working at the time and we stayed in touch after our purchase.  In 2016, she plucked me out of banking to help her and Kevin's growing business.

With the start of Caddy & Company, we have combined the two and created a new weekly video series called "Out & About with Senter & Company."  Out & About is going to feature weekly guest people, businesses, organizations, non-profits and many more.  The idea is to create awareness and help people get to know our surrounding community in the Lake Norman area which includes Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson Mooresville and the greater Lake Norman region.

Our first edition featured Kevin chatting with Jill Swain of the Huntersville Chamber of Commerce.  We then moved on to Neal at Innovative Speed Shop, Chaz with Churchwell Insurance and have three more coming down the line in the next few weeks!  Head over to the Senter & Company Facebook Page to check out the video series!  They drop every Thursday!

Happy Friday to all!  Wanted to take a moment and share our recap video of the VermilliRun race day.   It was a great day filled with plenty of emotions.  I wouldn't be a true Wolfpacker if I didn't give a nod, especially on ESPY's week, to Coach Jimmy V.  I'm pretty sure there was plenty of laughter, thinking and crying on race day.

If you didn't already know, the VermilliRun in the Vermillion community of Huntersville was held in honor of resident Brian Bowman.  Brian sadly passed several years ago after fighting cancer.  The VermilliRun race will attempt moving forward to align itself with various local charities and causes all in honor of Brian.  He was a truly unique individual from everything I've learned since we partnered with VermilliRun.

All that being said, I hope you enjoy our race day video we put together.  We also hope that you'll consider running and supporting next year's VermilliRun.  It is on the schedule for April 20, 2019 in Vermillion!  See ya there!

Lisa and Tony

On Memorial Day Weekend this year, Caroline and I headed east towards Wallace, NC to film Lisa and Tony's wedding.  The beautiful ceremony and reception were held at River Landing.  We wish the Habash couple a lifetime of happiness in their lives together!

Back in November, Caroline and I moved north of Charlotte to Huntersville.  The move made sense in so many ways.  Caroline works in town and we'd also be closer to family and a little further out from the craziness that Uptown Charlotte can sometimes come with.  While I do admittedly miss being so close to the funky and hip and trendy neighborhoods that Charlotte had to offer, Huntersville comes with a certain peacefulness and pace that I believe matches quite well with us.

Part of our desires when we moved was feeling more plugged into our community and boy have we found the answer!  When we started Caddy & Co. we knew the best way to really grow our business and portfolio would be to reach out to various local business and organizations and see if they had a need for our work.  As luck would have it, our very own subdivision, Vermillion, is hosting its first ever 5k and family fun run on April 21st.

We reached out to VermilliRun and were immediately greeted with an emphatic yes from some wonderful people.  In the process of working with them so far, I've gotten to know some wonderful people and have learned so much about our neighborhood that I'm not sure I would have otherwise.

The Vermillion subdivision is the legacy project of the Bowman family and Bowman Development Group.  One family member and local longtime resident, Brian Bowman sadly passed away about three and a half years ago after battling cancer.  The VermilliRun is being held in his honor.  From everything I've learned so far about him, Brian sounds like he would have been a great person to know personally.  He has left a lasting legacy that won't soon be forgotten.

Each year, VermilliRun intends to partner with various causes and for the first one they have joined forces with A Cure In Sight.  This organization's mission is to provide patient services for ocular melanoma eye cancer patients.  This led me to learning that there is actually a large cluster of Ocular Melanoma cases in the Huntersville area.

Caroline and I have been working on a series of videos for them and have been attending a couple of fundraising events.  The great news is that in its first year, the VermilliRun has already surpassed its fundraising goal and hasn't even made it to race day yet!

We're very proud to have partnered with them and are excited to become more engaged in our community.  The first feature video we did for them was about Brian Bowman and the race being run in his honor.  We hope you'll take a moment to watch it and learn more about what a great person he was.

If you're into running or partying with great people, then the VermilliRun event is for you!  April 21st in Huntersville.  Be there!

Join us on Saturday April 21st in Huntersville for the Vermillirun 5k and family fun run. Proceeds from this race will be going to A Cure in Sight and Ocular Melanoma research. For more info, please visit www.vermillirun.com

What Happened in Vegas!

Good Tuesday morning everyone!  Back in November, when I was thinking more and more about videography, I was exploring all the ways in which I could create videos and content outside of just weddings.

So with that in mind, I decided to reach out to the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) and see if they needed any help with their upcoming National Championship that was to be held in Las Vegas, NV.  As luck would have it, the other media company they had worked with in the past had other obligations that weekend and they were in need of someone to work with.

For those of you that don't know, I played club golf while at NC State.  Myself along with some other close friends developed the team over 5 years (victory lap!).  During my final year and a half with club golf, I served as a Regional Coordinator with my friend/teammate/roommate Brandon for the North Carolina Region.  This entailed planning and running tournaments every semester and also trying to grow the conference.  The student president of the entire NCCGA at the time was Matt Weinberger who now happens to be the COO and Co-Founder of Nextgengolf.

Nextgengolf is the organizing body over the NCCGA and focuses on providing awesome golf experiences and opportunities not just to college students but to all golfers across the country in the 18-39 age range.  They're also launching an initiative to be the hub for high school golf in the country as well!

So back to November and I decide to send Matt a message on the off chance that it could work.  What's the worst that could happen? They say no and I keep moving on.  However, it seems as though the timing was perfect and it all came together quickly.  On December 1st, they flew me out to Las Vegas to the Paiute Golf Resort to document the Fall 2017 National Championship.

I'll be working on a series of videos for them and the first one is ready to be released!  It's a short video that provides some info on the NCCGA and will be used on their site and social media accounts to generate new teams/members in the NCCGA.  The growth that the organization has seen is incredible.  My last tournament was the Fall 2012 National Championship (don't ask how I finished) at Sea Island in Georgia.  There were roughly 100 golfers and maybe less than a dozen teams total participating.

In Vegas, the Fall 2017 Championship had more than 340 golfers representing over 50 schools across the country.  Currently there are more than 350 collegiate club golf teams in the U.S. and they don't show any signs of slowing down!  I'm very proud to have been a club golfer and to feel like I played a small role in it's incredible growth.

This will hopefully be the beginning of a long term relationship with the NCCGA and Nextgengolf.  I have several more projects in production right now for them that will be coming out over the next few weeks.  It's been a great pleasure so far and I can't wait to show you more so you can get an idea of just how awesome the organization is and what they're doing for not just collegiate golfers but young professionals as well!

I hope you enjoy!

New Year, New Business?!

Happy New Years to all!  For those that don't know us personally, I'd like to introduce myself and my wife.  We are Brian and Caroline Cox and we are the owners and videographers of Caddy & Co. Productions.  We're both originally from the mountains of North Carolina, the Asheville area to be more specific.

We met in Raleigh in 2012 and relocated to Charlotte in the summer of 2013.  We recently settled down in a new home in Huntersville which is just north of the Queen City. Today, I want to take a moment to share a little about our path to forming Caddy & Co.

After attending Appalachian State University, Caroline moved to Raleigh in 2012 - just a few months before I graduated from NC State.  We actually met just 6 weeks before I was set to graduate and, from the first date, we both recognized we had something special.  After moving to Charlotte a few months later, Caroline found herself back in school and I found myself facing the real world.

In September of that year, I got a job working at a bank. After almost three full years of that job, I realized something needed to change and Caroline was nothing but supportive.  She ultimately helped me overrule my safe and pragmatic thinking and told me to resign and find the thing I truly loved.

After buying our first home in 2015, I found myself always researching other homes and opportunities even after we moved in.  Our agent, Robin Senter of Senter & Company, was incredible to work with and quickly became my mentor in pursuing my license.  She told me to get my license and I'd have spot on her team.  Talk about a hook up!  She's one of the best and highest producing agents in the area and she was a one-man-band at the time.

In August of 2016, I joined her and her husband, Kevin, and we hit the ground running.  Admittedly, they're producing at a level I still can't Fathom! I love working in real estate and I keep an active license, but overtime I discovered that I was missing a creative outlet.  I grew up and went through college with a dated notion that I'd work in the same industry for 40+ years, retire and play golf every day until my time on Earth was up.  But I was left wanting for more and lacking a certain level of personal fulfillment.

These realizations eventually led me to videography... Caroline's best friend was getting married in September of 2017.  They had decided not to hire a videographer for their wedding so I told Caroline that I'd like to film their wedding for them.  For some reason, they agreed!  While in college I worked on several video projects for work, school, clubs and just for fun.  Working on their wedding reminded me how much I enjoyed that process.

To provide even more background, I'll speak quickly to our own wedding.  We too, due to budgetary constraints, weren't going to have a videographer at our wedding.  During the wedding planning process, I often found Caroline watching wedding highlights on Vimeo until the wee hours of the morning.  I knew then, I'd have to figure out a way to make sure we had one there.  I did some research and found quotes ranging from $3,000 all the way to $7,000! Yikes!

I ultimately found a videographer that fit our limited budget and hired him.  He did good work, but delivered the final product late (6 months instead of 6 weeks after the wedding) and was very hard to get a hold of throughout the process.  We've since discovered he's no longer in business due to several other couples experiencing the same issues. Unfortunately, we've learned that many couples experience the same frustration with vendors.

Once I finished work on Lee (Caroline's friend) and Ed's video, I couldn't ignore the growing feeling that I loved working on it and that I was pretty good at it too!  Caroline must've agreed because she posed the question to me, "Why not us?"  Here we are, several months later with newly purchased equipment and several successful projects under our belt.

Caddy & Co. is named for our sweet puppy "Caddy."  In true millennial fashion, we named a business after the dog (who fills up our entire social media content anyways).

We'd love the chance to work with you on your wedding!  We also handle special events, corporate events, engagements/proposals (if the asker is planning the ultimate surprise for the askee), and small business content creation!

To our family and friends, thank you so much for your support and belief in us!  To our future clients, thank you as well for choosing us!  We look forward to a great first year in 2018!

Happy New Year!
