Good Tuesday morning everyone! Back in November, when I was thinking more and more about videography, I was exploring all the ways in which I could create videos and content outside of just weddings.
So with that in mind, I decided to reach out to the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) and see if they needed any help with their upcoming National Championship that was to be held in Las Vegas, NV. As luck would have it, the other media company they had worked with in the past had other obligations that weekend and they were in need of someone to work with.
For those of you that don't know, I played club golf while at NC State. Myself along with some other close friends developed the team over 5 years (victory lap!). During my final year and a half with club golf, I served as a Regional Coordinator with my friend/teammate/roommate Brandon for the North Carolina Region. This entailed planning and running tournaments every semester and also trying to grow the conference. The student president of the entire NCCGA at the time was Matt Weinberger who now happens to be the COO and Co-Founder of Nextgengolf.
Nextgengolf is the organizing body over the NCCGA and focuses on providing awesome golf experiences and opportunities not just to college students but to all golfers across the country in the 18-39 age range. They're also launching an initiative to be the hub for high school golf in the country as well!
So back to November and I decide to send Matt a message on the off chance that it could work. What's the worst that could happen? They say no and I keep moving on. However, it seems as though the timing was perfect and it all came together quickly. On December 1st, they flew me out to Las Vegas to the Paiute Golf Resort to document the Fall 2017 National Championship.
I'll be working on a series of videos for them and the first one is ready to be released! It's a short video that provides some info on the NCCGA and will be used on their site and social media accounts to generate new teams/members in the NCCGA. The growth that the organization has seen is incredible. My last tournament was the Fall 2012 National Championship (don't ask how I finished) at Sea Island in Georgia. There were roughly 100 golfers and maybe less than a dozen teams total participating.
In Vegas, the Fall 2017 Championship had more than 340 golfers representing over 50 schools across the country. Currently there are more than 350 collegiate club golf teams in the U.S. and they don't show any signs of slowing down! I'm very proud to have been a club golfer and to feel like I played a small role in it's incredible growth.
This will hopefully be the beginning of a long term relationship with the NCCGA and Nextgengolf. I have several more projects in production right now for them that will be coming out over the next few weeks. It's been a great pleasure so far and I can't wait to show you more so you can get an idea of just how awesome the organization is and what they're doing for not just collegiate golfers but young professionals as well!
I hope you enjoy!
